Dr. Rosario Gómez-García is an accomplished biotechnology leader with over a decade of experience driving R&D programs from discovery through development. Based in Menlo Park, California, she combines deep scientific expertise with proven program management capabilities to advance breakthrough therapeutics and medical technologies.
Professional Excellence
As Laboratory Director at Sensor Kinesis Corp, Dr. Gómez-García served as employee number one at the medical device startup, building and leading a team of up to twenty PhD and Master's-level scientists. Her leadership was instrumental in developing troponin detection assays for cardiac diseases and designing SARS-CoV-2 proteins for COVID diagnostic devices during the pandemic response.
Previously, as Principal Research Scientist at Abengoa Research in Spain, she established four biochemistry research lines and initiated the company's inaugural PhD hiring program. Her strategic vision helped transition the organization from research focus to product development, fostering crucial collaborations across departments.

Dr. Gómez-García earned her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Suprema cum laude from the University of Seville, where she completed groundbreaking research on inorganic pyrophosphatases of photosynthetic organisms. Her scientific journey includes prestigious postdoctoral training at Stanford University under Nobel Laureate Arthur Kornberg, who notably mentioned her contributions in a 2006 Nobel Prize interview.
Her research has led to multiple patents in genetically modified bacteria and alcohol tolerance, along with numerous publications and presentations at international conferences spanning synthetic biology, parasitology, and biotechnology.
