Dr. Joyce James is a distinguished pharmaceutical leader with over 20 years of industry experience dedicated to the discovery and development of therapeutics. She specializes in early development and clinical pharmacology, with deep expertise in nonclinical studies, early phase clinical trials, and bioanalytical and pharmacodynamic assays supporting all stages of drug development. 

Dr. James is the Founder of Corvid LLC, an early development and clinical pharmacology consulting company. She has served in senior leadership roles including Vice President of Early Development at Odonate Therapeutics, an oncology-focused company, and as a founding core member of Lyric Pharmaceuticals, where she served as Vice President of Clinical Pharmacology & Early Development and contributed significantly to obtaining Series A financing.

Previously, Dr. James held the position of Senior Director and Head of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics & Analytical Chemistry at Cytokinetics, where she supported numerous research and clinical programs. At Ambit Biosciences, she played a key role in the discovery and development of quizartinib for the treatment of FLT3-ITD positive acute myelogenous leukemia, work that was later approved as Vanflyta. She began her pharmaceutical career as a Research Fellow at Merck Research Labs, focusing on NMR spectroscopy and discovery DMPK.

Dr. James holds a Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry from The University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Biochemistry from The College of Charleston. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals and serves as a guest lecturer for the online Drug Development Course at Georgetown-Harvard University.
